Landmark Ventnor hotel to be sold under the hammer

One of the oldest hotels on the Isle of Wight, Ventnor Towers Hotel, is to be sold at an online property auction with Network Auctions at a guide price of £700,000-£750,000.

Originally built in 1872 as a gentleman’s residence, the elegant Victorian property is situated on the edge of Ventnor town centre. Ventnor Towers Hotel is one of a select few properties which offers a functioning helipad within its impressive grounds of 2.92 acres.

Ventnor is hailed to be one of the sunniest spots on the island and the property enjoys a south facing aspect with stunning, uninterrupted, views over the English Channel, and also west towards Ventnor Bay and north towards St Boniface Downs. The elevated property sits just a few hundred feet from the steep cliffs that give access to Bonchurch.

The substantial four-storey detached property, which has been extended multiple times over the years, offers 26 en-suite guest rooms, restaurant, sun terrace, bar, meeting and banqueting facilities and a games room. Additionally, on site there is a swimming pool, tennis court and car park.

Toby Limbrick, auctioneer, says, ‘This is an exciting opportunity for someone to take on an existing business, but also offers huge potential for creating additional dwellings to utilise the large site. The hotel buildings are suitable for alternative commercial uses, as well as conversion to residential, subject to planning.’

‘The property enjoys panoramic views from the bar and restaurant and most of the guest rooms, some of which have their own balconies.’

‘With so many people now re-assessing their life choices, Ventnor with its famous warm microclimate and fast-growing reputation as being one of the best places to dine on the Island, Ventor Towers Hotel is sure to tick many boxes for many people.’

Ventnor Towers Hotel, 54 Madeira Road, Ventnor, Isle of Wight, PO38 1QT will be sold on 22 April. For more information: www.networkauctions.co.uk
