An oasis of privacy: Fine Victorian house in Bishopston’s only private square to be sold at auction

Privacy. If ever there was a bigger buzzword than ‘unprecedented’, privacy would be it. But how can you achieve this living in the busy streets of Bristol?

Enter Morley Square in Bishopston. Created in the late 1880s, this private square is one of about half a dozen in Bristol. Offering a tranquil oasis of green amidst the busy streets, the calm interior belies a space, according to local residents Julia and Chris Wallace, that is not quite a garden, not quite a park, but is a lovely place to live.

Number 10 Morley Square is a property, auctioneer Toby Limbrick believes, people will be crying out for. Guided at £550-575,000 it will be sold by Network Auctions online on 27th May.

Limbrick says, ‘Morley Square is one of those text-book renovation lots where people can have a field day making the place as they want. It’s a fine property in a unique location. There are just 28 dwellings surrounding the half-acre private square which is maintained by a residents association.’

‘We’re selling the property on behalf of a housing association and it has previously been used as bedsit accommodation. The property now requires renovation, but offers ample space (1963 sq. ft) across three floors to create a substantial family home or conversion to apartments, subject to planning permission.’

‘Having your own access to a private square in such a prime location will be a real draw for people. In these challenging times, people are thinking more about space and place and Morley Square ticks many boxes.’

10 Morley Square, Bishopston, Bristol, Avon, BS7 9DW will be sold by Network Auctions on 27th May. For more information: www.networkauctions.co.uk
